Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions
Food Rescue
- Food Rescue Hours: Monday 9am-12pm and Tuesday through Friday 9-11 am generally, 1 day per week Mon- Fri.
- Teams of 2
- Must be 18 years old with a valid driver's license.
- Lift to 50 lbs.
- Interact with store staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and guidelines provided by stores and Community Food Basket.
- Pick up food from various stores and bakeries.
- Deliver food rescue promptly according to Health code standards.
- Training will be provided.
Daily Food Prep for Distribution
- Prep hours are generally 9-2 and they can vary depending on volunteer availability.
- A volunteer assists the Distribution manager.
- Sorting rescued food
- Stocking fridges and freezers
- Displaying bread and pastries on bread racks
- Training will be provided.
Daily Food Distribution
- Hours vary depending on a specific day. M- 2:30-5:30 T, W, F- 3:30-5:30, Th- 4:30-6:30
- Shopper- Assist families with food selection in the pantry
- Intake Computer- collects families' demographic data.
- Produce/ Meat- Based on family size, select food for families.
- Misc./ Bread/ Desserts- assist families with selecting these items.
- Runners- Assist families to the vehicles, help families unload from the cart, and then return carts to the building.
- Training will be provided.
Groups
- Small or large groups assist with sorting food, diaper wrapping, or making hygiene items.
- Minimum of 4 people in a party
- We prefer daytime parties, but evening parties are available. Please call the office for available slots and times. 208.524.0994
- All parties are contingent on food, diapers, and hygiene supplies.
